Accessibility
Last updated: 2026-10-11
We want everyone to be able to use BrightMesh Tables, including people who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, magnification or high contrast. Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we do today
- We check new code for a visible keyboard focus indicator: a check in our build stops any change that removes one from a control.
- Dialogs announce themselves to screen readers as dialogs, and icon-only buttons carry a text label. Both are checked on every change.
- We check new code so that clickable items are real buttons or links, which can be reached with the Tab key and used with Enter or Space.
- You can choose a light or dark theme, and enlarge or shrink the grid between 70% and 130% in Settings > Appearance.
What we know is not there yet
- BrightMesh Tables has not yet had an independent accessibility audit, so we do not claim full WCAG conformance.
- Just under 200 older clickable items are not yet real buttons or links, so some of them cannot be reached with the Tab key. Our build stops that number growing, and we are reducing it.
- Cells in the spreadsheet grid use the grid's own focus highlight, which our focus check does not cover.
- The spreadsheet grid is a complex interactive widget. Some of its features may be harder to use with a keyboard or screen reader than the rest of the app.
